Dog Control Officer
For issues relating to dogs, such as lost dogs, excessive barking, strays, or aggressive dogs, please call, the Town Dog Control Officer (DCO) at (845) 464-0724. The DCO enforces Local and State laws pertaining to dogs, including licensing, leash laws, and rabies inoculation requirements. The DCO rescues and cares for lost dogs at the town kennel, and brings unclaimed dogs from the kennel to the Columbia County Humane Society. There is a redemption fee for all kenneled dogs. Dog Licensing
Dog licenses, which are required by New York State law for all dogs over 6 months old living in the Town and Village of Rhinebeck, can be obtained in person or by mail from the Town Clerk by providing this form, proof of rabies vaccination, and the correct fee (see below). Dog licenses are good for one year. We will mail your renewal to you. Make checks out to Town of Rhinebeck and mail or bring to 80 East Market Street, Rhinebeck, NY 12572. Fees: Spayed or neutered dog $10 Un-spayed or neutered dog $18 There is a $5 discount for dog owners 65 and older. |
