Dog Control

The Town Dog Control Officer enforces Local and State laws pertaining to dogs, including licensing, leash laws, and rabies inoculation requirements. The DCO rescues and cares for lost dogs at the town kennel, and brings unclaimed dogs from the kennel to the Columbia County Humane Society.

For issues relating to dogs, such as lost dogs, excessive barking, strays, or aggressive dogs, please call one of our
Dog Control Officers Roger Newkirk or Stephanie Fitzpatrick.

For weekday coverage, please call Stephanie at (845) 464-0724.

Roger offers coverage weekends, weeknights and early mornings (6pm to 6am) and can be reached at (845) 876-2465.

There is a redemption fee for all kennelled dogs.
