Dog Control
The Town Dog Control Officer enforces State and Local laws pertaining to dogs, including licensing, leash laws, and rabies inoculation requirements. The DCO rescues and cares for lost dogs at the town kennel, and brings unclaimed dogs from the kennel to the Columbia County Humane Society.

There is a redemption fee for all kenneled dogs.

All dogs older than four months, owned or harbored in the Town and Village of Rhinebeck, must be licensed through the Town of Rhinebeck Town Clerk's office. All dog licenses shall be issued for a period of one year and will expire at the end of the month one year from the day of issue. Dog licenses, which are required by New York State law for all dogs over 4 months old living in the Town and Village of Rhinebeck, can be obtained in person or by mail from the Town Clerk by filling out this worksheet and mailing or delivering it to the Town Clerk's office at 80 East Market Street, Rhinebeck, NY 12572, with proof of rabies vaccination, and the correct fee (see below). The Dog Park is next to the soccer field on Stone Church Road where it intersects with Yantz Road. Parking is in the gravel lot, and the Park is at the end of the path that begins near the metal gate on the Northwest corner of the lot. |
