Historic and Archaeological Preservation Advisory Committee (HAPAC)
The Historic and Archaeological Preservation Advisory Committee (HAPAC) was established by Local Law 4 of 2019. Roles and responsibilities of the Committee are detailed in Town Code Section 125-62.1 and include, but are not limited to, assisting administration of rules and regulations adopted by the Town Board, recommending criteria for, and undertaking surveys to identify, significant historic, archaeological, architectural and cultural resources, recommending structures and/or resources to identify as local landmarks, historic districts and zones of archaeological sensitivity, recommend structures or resources, recommend the acquisition of easements or other interests in real property, increase public awareness of the economic value of historical, archaeological, architectural, and cultural preservation through educational programs, make recommendations to the Town Board regarding utilization of funding opportunities to promote the preservation of local land marks and resources within the Town, and review applications to the Planning Board or Town Board and make findings and recommendations.
